Xerox Named a Leader in IDC MarketScape

Xerox ConnectKey Technology cited for Frost & Sullivan’s Innovation Award

MIAMI, United States, January 27, 2014– Xerox is a leader in the IDC MarketScape 2013 Smart MFP report for the second consecutive year. IDC noted Xerox as an established market leader for printing and copying and with a solid foothold in the multifunction printer (MFP) space.

According to the report, the most significant development for Xerox was the introduction of the ConnectKey® technology platform.

ConnectKey is a software system embedded in Xerox MFPs and a set of solutions that responds to an increasingly mobile workforce and the need for more advanced IT security across connected devices. Features include the ability to scan and upload documents to cloud repositories, send business-critical documents directly into workflow processes and print securely and easily from any mobile device.

“Xerox’s portfolio, particularly ConnectKey, is a testament to the essential role MFPs play in today’s business environment,” said Keith Kmetz, vice president, IDC's Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions Programs.

MFPs align with Xerox’s next generation managed print services
A clear linkage between ConnectKey and its impact on Xerox’s managed print services (MPS) offering was highlighted in the report: “This is significant as Xerox has been recognized as a leader in the managed print and document services market, and its smart MFPs play an integral role in the delivery of these services.”

Xerox’s three-stage MPS approach – assess and optimize; secure and integrate; automate and simplify – is a roadmap to help bridge the paper and digital worlds. Xerox has more than 50 software solutions certified for use with its MFP platform, including cost control, security, authentication, device management, document management, document scanning, fax solutions, mobility, output management and variable data.

“Our clients needed a solution to the high cost and inefficient processes associated with managing their printing capabilities. ConnectKey is their answer and recognition in the IDC MarketScape report is a great proof point,” said Douraid Zaghouani, president, Channel Partner Operations, Xerox.

Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company achieved substantial cost savings and productivity gains as an early user of ConnectKey. The hotel management and development company based in Raleigh, N.C., used the MFPs to consolidate its fleet and convert hundreds of manual and paper processes. Future plans call for ConnectKey devices to replace expiring equipment leases and be installed in new hotels.

Excellence in technology innovation
Additional accolades for ConnectKey include the 2013 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Excellence in Technology Innovation.

“ConnectKey represents a new approach to the MFP industry, delivering more convenience, productivity, security and cost control to businesses,” said Ronald Gruia, director, Frost & Sullivan. “Xerox thought beyond just the hardware and focused on the software that runs across a suite of MFPs, providing significant improvements to both the user interface and the systems management that run largely behind the scenes.”

Frost & Sullivan annually presents this award to a company that demonstrates excellence in new products and technologies within its industry.
